About the Position CONTROLLERS Controllers ensure that the firm meets all the financial control and reporting obligations of a global, regulated, and public financial institution. Our professionals measure the profitability of, and risks associated with, every aspect of the firm's business. Controllers also ensure that the firm's activities are conducted in compliance with the regulations governing transactions in the financial markets. OUR IMPACT We're a team of specialists charged with managing the firm's liquidity, capital, and risk, and providing the overall financial control and reporting functions. Whether assessing the creditworthiness of the firm's counterparties, monitoring market risks associated with trading activities, or offering analytical and regulatory compliance support, our work contributes directly to the firm's success. BUSINESS UNIT The Controllers group is responsible for safeguarding the firm's assets: to help maintain the integrity of Goldman Sachs' finances and expenditures. Through careful consideration and analyses of firm finances, objectives and strategies, we ensure that the firm's businesses continue to be profitable and efficiently run. Controllers also ensure that all business practices are in compliance with financial and regulatory requirements worldwide. Since contact with virtually every part of the firm is essential to Controllers, professionals in the department experience Goldman Sachs businesses, products, and sophisticated technology systems in depth. Direct Hedge Funds, Hedge Funds Strategies, Private Equity Group teams within Controllers support the alternative investments within Goldman Sachs Asset Management division with oversight over complex private funds. EMEA Payroll Accounting KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Booking monthly payroll costs from global payroll system into the firm's general ledger - Reviewing and reconciling payroll clearance accounts each month and substantiate the balances each quarter - Processing employee salary payments, tax, social security and pension payments for all EMEA countries - Monitoring bank activity on daily basis for all EMEA payroll accounts and accordingly book receipt/payment entries in the ledger - Reviewing comp P&L; variance between prior and current month and confirming reason for large increases/decreases - Liaising with internal and external auditors and providing requested information - Liaising with LEC's to confirm hedging requirements on each booking. - Complete compensation controls for managerial review. - Liaising with bank to understand the status of payment which was unpaidto final beneficiary - Reviewing the suspense reports on a daily basis and clear suspense entries - Liaise with Payroll team responsible for running and completing the monthly payrolls on time - Quarterly Sarbanes Oxley reporting and balance sheet substantiation. - Responsible to book employer taxaccruals on the cash and equity bonus annually DESIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelors / Masters in Accounting - Excellent accounting skills ideally developed within a large complex organization, managing financial data and spreadsheets - System literate with experience in MS office applications, Web/Java based systems (such as PeopleSoft 9.0) , the Cloud, (Oracle) and the banking platform (CITI) ADDITIONAL SKILLS REQUIRED - Exceptional attention to detail - Highly organized and must be able to multi-task - Strong work ethic and team player - Sound decision-making skills - Highly logical mind-set, able to problem solve - Able to work to various deadlines - Automation driven ABOUT GOLDMAN SACHS At Goldman Sachs, we commit our people, capital and ideas to help our clients, shareholders and the communities we serve to grow.
